Have You Heard? Greyhaven

Meet Greyhaven. The highly rated alt rock quintet, who have been making sweet, sweet music since 2015, take influence from the likes of Don Broco and 30 Seconds To Mars. The year the band got together saw the release of their debut EP ‘The Flood‘. Greyhaven then went on to reveal their sophomore EP ‘State Of Mind‘, with the help of esteemed producer Daniel Kerr (Shields, Create To Inspire, Despite my Deepest Fear), which received multiple rave reviews.

Now Greyhaven return with a new offering to their rock collection, the brand new forthcoming EP ‘Breathe‘, which is out this Friday 12th January via Outsider Records. Greyhaven will be celebrating the release with an EP launch show, also on the 12th, at The Macbeth of Hoxton, London. As if that wasn’t enough hype for one news post, the band also revealed last week that their next single – taken from the EP’s title – will be revealed on the 10th. Stay tuned!

We caught up with the London heavy rockers to find out all about the upcoming release, working with Daniel Kerr and most recent single ‘Truth‘…

Broken Arrow: For those who haven’t yet heard of you, can you tell us a bit about Greyhaven?

GH: We’re a London based rock band and we love to party.

Broken Arrow: You’ve been compared to Don Broco, 30 Seconds To Mars and Alexisonfire – are these some of your biggest influences? Who else is your music influenced by?

GH: They’re definitely the band’s biggest influences. Aside from that we like things from all over the musical spectrum! Acts like Queen, Biggie, Chon, Neck Deep, Linkin Park, London Grammar, The 1975, Dua Lipa and loads more.

Broken Arrow: You are days away from releasing your new EP ‘Breathe’ – what can fans expect from the release compared to your previous EPs?

GH: This record definitely has similarities to our previous 2 but we think people will be surprised by some things. The title track is the first time we’ve done a ballad, which may shock some people and there’s definitely some moments in the other tracks which people won’t be expecting. There’s still guitar solos, mad drumming and loads of big hooks, so no need for anyone to worry though.

Broken Arrow: You worked with Daniel Kerr again for this EP – was that just a no brainer for you, after working together on State Of Mind?

GH: Absolutely! Daniel always kills it in the studio, it wouldn’t have made sense for us to go anywhere else!

Broken Arrow: When can we expect a full length album?

GH: We’re writing some more stuff as we speak, we’re not sure if it’ll be a full length yet, but it may be sooner than you think.

Broken Arrow:  You’ve been given great reviews for your music from the likes of Kerrang and Scuzz TV. What’s the best compliment you’ve been given as a band?

GH: The best compliment a band can get is someone taking the time to come to a show, download your record, share a music video. It’s cheesy but it’s true!

Broken Arrow: You recently revealed the track ‘Truth’ – what’s it all about?

GH: It’s about standing up for what you believe in, no matter what. It’s about trying to make a positive change in the world, even when everyone else is against you.

Broken Arrow: How was it touring with As Lions in November?

GH: Absolutely incredible, we’ve known the guys for a while and to be able to take 2 weeks out, on the road with some of the most genuine people is really an honour.

Broken Arrow: Who else is on your bucket list of bands to support in the future?

GH: I think supporting Bring Me The Horizon, The 1975 And Don Broco. Not sure how we’d make that happen, but we do love a challenge.

Broken Arrow: Lastly, what can we expect from Greyhaven for 2018?

GH: A lot. We’re going to make sure we get out on the road as much as we can and who knows, maybe we’ll be able to get some more music out before the end of the year as well!
