Have you heard? Monster Truck
For a bunch of Canadians, these guys make tunes as southern as it gets. Monster Truck are a four-piece, blues-driven riff machine. They have been active since 2009, making their first release in 2010 with their self-titled EP. They gained momentum and toured hard, moving onto releasing their second EP ‘The Brown EP‘. This awesome snippet of the talent that was Monster Truck included the track ‘Seven Seas Blues‘ that you may have heard on EA sports hockey game NHL ’13.
Even though they were gaining popularity, they were still producing their records without the assistance of a record label. This changed in 2013 when they signed to Dine Alone Records and shortly after released their first full length effort ‘Furiosity‘.
This 12 track long album features heavily the raw vocal talents of Jon Harvey, switching seamlessly from a melodic southern drawl to a full-pelt scream. This is accompanied by Jeremy Wilderman’s riff-heavy guitar style and tearing solos. Enormous drum beats and funky rhythm are provided by Steve Kiely and if that wasn’t enough, they are topped off with atmospheric and groovy organ sounds courtesy of Brandon Bliss.
This combination of soulful lyrics and pounding riffs that have been the mainstay of their song writing since their beginnings has generated them a small loyal fan base. They are currently touring the world supporting Nickelback and have ‘The Brown EP‘ and ‘Furiosity‘ available on Spotify.
