In the middle of a bar on a Saturday night in Brighton, ZOAX are about to support Hacktivist in a huge sell-out show and Adam from the band was kind enough to sit down and share the hype that he was feeling from the tour with me.

Broken Arrow: How did this tour with Hacktivist come about?

Adam: It turns out Josh and Rich from Hacktivist are just big fans of the band and they just popped up and asked if we wanted to go on tour with them. It’s been a great tour and we’ve had a lot of fun with the guys as we’ve gone around the country.

Broken Arrow: Have you got any plans for touring in the new year? Perhaps hitting some of the festivals?

Adam: We want to do our own tour in 2017, hitting all the festivals we can hopefully, we’re not going to be picky about it.

Broken Arrow: Any dream tours you want to share with fans out there?

Adam: There’s so many people we’d love to tour with; Biffy Clyro, Alexisonfire, Billy Talent and Daft Punk just to name a few of the top of my heads.

Broken Arrow: We’re here at Sticky Mike’s tonight, how do you feel about these unique local venues?

Adam: We love the venues like this, all up close and personal, we need them and they should always be kept open.

Broken Arrow: Your debut album has obviously turned out to be a hit and it’s been a great year, how does it all feel now?

Adam: We’re really relieved honestly, we were worried that the album wouldn’t do great but it did great and it just all went so well. The whole idea of us is we don’t want to stick to one idea, I’d never be able to spend the rest of my life screaming, we just want to do it all and keep it fresh.

Broken Arrow: Would you say 2016 has been a good year for new releases? Any bands caught your attention?

Adam: It’s been the best year for new releases in a long time, so much new stuff that has meant tonnes of growth for the scene so it’s great. To me, Creeper are destined to be the next big thing, also Milk Teeth and if Black Peaks don’t make it big I may as well give up.

Broken Arrow: On the topic of bands making it big, there’s been a lot of complaints about the same bands headlining festivals over and over, what’s your opinion on that?

Adam: Oh, people just like to complain, icons are icons that deserve the headlines and if you don’t want to go then don’t go. We need to make the bands into big bands, then they’ll be able to get there.

Broken Arrow: So would you say there are any bands that are almost ready to be that next big headliner?

Adam: Enter Shikari, a monumental live band, after seeing their arena tour early in 2016 I can safely say they’re one of the best live bands of all time and no one can convince me otherwise.
