Festival season is nearly upon us and April usually kicks the season off with a bang. This month we have two festivals with some of the best upcoming punk acts from the UK and the world. We’ll start with the bigger of the two…
Groezrock – April 29th-30th
Groezrock is Europe’s answer to the Warped Tour, featuring a lot of the best bands in punk, ska, hardcore and metalcore. The main feature of Groezrock this year is Rancid headlining the festival by performing their album ‘…And Out Come The Wolves’ and album some people dub the best punk album ever. Rancid will be joined by Sum 41, Hatebreed, Less Than Jake, Four Year Strong, Mad Caddies and many more acts.
Manchester Punk Fest – April 21st – 23rd
Manchester Punk Fest, on the other hand, focuses on homegrown talent. Of course, there is the world renowned punk act The Flatliners, but Manchester Punk Fest showcases some of the best upcoming UK punk acts. The list includes Gnarwolves, Wonk Unit, legendary act Citizen Fish and also our our Have You Heard? acts, Faintest Idea and Matilda’s Scoundrels.
Wrestlemania – April 3rd
We have covered WWE events heavily in the Shit To Do feature, but none of them as a huge as Wrestlemania, a PPV which is dubbed “The Grand Daddy of Them All“. Wrestlemania picks up from the fallout of past PPVs; The Royal Rumble, and Fastlane, with the main events deciding who headlines this year’s grandest stage. Going for the WWE world title will be Roman Reigns who challenges Royal Rumble winner and current title holder Triple H.
The prodigal son Shane O’Mac (Shane McMahon) will take on The Undertaker in a Hell In A Cell match where the stakes are high for both men. Shane fights for the right to run Monday Night Raw, while The Undertaker fights for the right to continue wrestling at Wrestlemania in the future. After the events of Fastlane, things got really heated between Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose, with the Lunatic Fringe challenging The Beast to a no holds barred street fight. Without a doubt this will be carnage.
More titles will be on the line, Kevin Owens will defend his Intercontinental title against six other men in a ladder match with the likes of long time rival Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, The Miz and Stardust, this is bound to be an entertaining match. To showcase the NXT women’s revolution Charlotte will defend her Diva’s title against fellow former NXT stars Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. Kalisto will face Ryback in a “David vs Goliath” style match, the big guy is looking to take the U.S Championship away from the little guy.
PPVs are a great way to settle feuds and it seems the perfect place to end the love affair between new boy AJ Styles and WWE veteran Chris Jericho. The New Day and The League of Nations have also been exchanging words in recent weeks with jokes against each other, the two factions will go head to head purely for bragging rights at Wrestlemania.
In the preshow, the Total Divas (Brie Bella, Paige, Natalya, Alicia Fox, and Eva Marie) will take on B.A.D. & Blonde (Naomi, Tamina, Lana, Emma, and Summer Rae) in a 10-Diva tag team match. The Usos plan to settle a score with The Dudley Boyz after they were brutally attacked and put through tables several weeks prior to Wrestlemania. Finallym the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will open the pre-show with 30 superstars challenging for the André the Giant Memorial Trophy, Big Show hopes to win it for the second year running.
NXT Takeover – April 1st
If you can’t wait for Wrestlemania, then just two nights before is also the NXT Takeover. All of the NXT titles are on the line with Finn Balor looking to defend his NXT title against Samoa Joe. Bayley is putting her women’s championship on the line against Asuka. American Alpha are challenging The Revival for the tag titles. Austin Aries is set to make his WWE/NXT debut against Baron Corbin. Also, singles matches as Apollo Crews faces Elias Samson and Sami Zayn returns to NXT after joining the main WWE roster to face Shinsuke Nakamura.
Game of Thrones Season 6 – April 24th
The TV show that holds the title for “The most illegally downloaded TV show ever” is back this month to make more people scream at their television. Watch to find out what happens with Jon Snow after the dramatic finale to season 5. Without a doubt there will be more brutal deaths, sex, nudity and lots of swearing and drinking; please let there be more drunk Tyrion.

Dark Souls is an action packed role-playing game renowned for its difficulty. With the original taking the gaming world by storm, it claimed a notoriety that has continued throughout the franchise, building a continuously growing fan-base in its wake. On the 12th April 2016, the third rendition; Dark Souls III is coming to PC, PS4 & Xbox One with the original director and creator Hidetaka Miyazki returning to the series, after stepping away from number two to pursue other projects, this promises to be one hell of a return to the critically acclaimed title.
