In April’s Shit To Do feature our contributors Makky Hall, Adam Cinelioglu and Tollef Rikje-Pearson recommend some cool festivals, films, games and music they think you need in your life.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
After a 3 year wait since the 2012 blockbuster The Avengers hit the screen, its sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming to cinemas this month as the already large Marvel Universe continues to rapidly grow. Tony Stark attempts to kick-start an old Peacekeeping program when things go wrong. Iron Man and the rest of The Avengers are put through their paces as the planet is once again under threat from destruction. Tony Stark’s Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye and The Incredible Hulk are back to save the day against the evil A.I creation Ultron, softly voiced by the ever so cool James Spader (The Blacklist). Expect to see Marvel Universe favourites such as Loki, Heimdall and Nick Fury and some newer foes such as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch battle it out in what should be one of the most explosive films of 2015. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for Stan Lee.
Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, James Spader, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Andy Serkis and Samuel L. Jackson
In cinemas nationwide April 23rd

Ori & The Blind Forest (xBox One and PC)
Wow. Ori & the Blind Forest. I’ve been itching to get my hands on this game ever since I saw the initial concept trailer. As of late, games I’ve been purchasing and playing (both old and new) have been both terrible and great – but it’s been a long time since I’ve instantly fallen in love with a game like this.
A game 4 years in the making, the final product really shines through as the ex-AAA developers at Moon Studios teamed up with Microsoft Studios to produce a real diamond in the rough. Considering the game is within the lower price bracket of the video games market, Ori & the Blind Forest offers beauty, charm and a fresh combination of gameplay elements both old and new.
Rarely these days do I come across a game that personifies that which I fell in love with as a child. Ori & the Blind Forest is so fresh yet so familiar that I cannot recommend it enough to anyone with a passion for platforming, adventure games, fantasy or visual/audio beauty.
If you like video games, pick this up as you will not be sorry. Get your copy here.
Slam Dunk Festival 2015
Slam Dunk Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary by delivering its biggest lineup to date. You Me At Six, Taking Back Sunday, Architects, Don Broco, While She Sleeps and Reel Big fish are only a few of the heavyweight names that join the upcoming acts like, ROAM, As It Is and PVRIS on this all-star Bank Holiday weekend. Known for its mixture of punk, ska, hardcore, metalcore and rock spread over up to 7 stages, expect diversity spread throughout the sites but plenty of snapbacks and vest tops. Get nostalgic with Millencolin as they play that one Tony Hawks Pro Skater song you know, or have a chance to see The Bronx twice as they bring over their alter ego mariachi band Mariachi El Bronx. Skank to Big D and the Kids Table or throw down to Emmure, the choice is yours as there is pretty much something for everyone, even a dance stage for the DJ’s to spin some shit. Shockingly there isn’t an appearance from Slam Dunk regular MC Lars this year which is a shame, but do keep an eye out for the very entertaining DJ Yoda!
Slam Dunk North – Leeds City Centre – Saturday 23rd May
Slam Dunk South – Hertfordshire University – Sunday 24th May
Slam Dunk Midlands – Wolverhampton City Centre – Bank Holiday Monday 25th May
