We Are Harlot – We Are Harlot
Release Date: 31st March 2015
Roadrunner Records

I was really looking forward to the release of the album. I kept seeing We Are Harlot‘s name everywhere over the last few months and so I decided to check out their debut single at the time, ‘Dancing On Nails‘ and I was hooked.

Fast-forward to a couple of months later and the album has been released – it did not disappoint!

The album kicks off with ‘Dancing On Nails‘. The introduction has a real build up of anticipation which I think is an awesome way to start off the album as first time listeners will have no idea what’s to come. This song is fast paced, has a real anthem-like chorus and Danny Worsnop‘s vocals sound raspy and raw, which I love.

My favourite song has got to be ‘The One‘ because it has a real bluesy feel to it. The verses have a bluesy funk to them and yet the chorus sounds kinda ballad-like, but it works really well and makes for a really catchy rock song that I now have on repeat.

The album as a whole contains a real variety of music which is what I find great about it; a little something for everyone but still keeping in tune with We Are Harlot‘s hard rock style. There’s softer tracks like ‘Someday‘, ‘I Tried‘ and ‘Easier To Leave‘ and heavier vocals on parts of ‘Denial‘, ‘DLT‘ and ‘Flying Too Close To The Sun‘, but each song has an awesome hook.

Overall, I am really impressed with this album. I’ve been waiting for a new hard rock album to come out that would really grab my attention and this one definitely has, so check it out!
